Outdoor Living

Outdoor Living, Engineered Like Architecture

Custom pavilions, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and engineered structural steel elements — designed and built by the same owner who builds your pool.

Custom Outdoor Living DFW — One Builder, One Vision.

Outdoor living DFW done right starts with one builder, one vision. A great pool is only half of a great backyard — the other half is everything around it, the pavilion that shelters it, the kitchen where you host, the fire wall that anchors the view at sunset. At Platinum Pools and Outdoor Living, we design and build the whole picture as a single composition, not a series of bolt-ons.

Because we cap ourselves at eight to ten projects a year, every outdoor living build gets the same owner-led attention as the pool itself. No project managers, no subbed-out coordination, no “that’s a different crew’s problem.” Adrian is on site for every phase.

Serving Westlake, Southlake, Colleyville, Grapevine, the Park Cities, and luxury communities across DFW.

What Sets Us Apart

Fully Fabricated Structural Steel

Cantilevered roofs that float without visible columns. Linear steel fire walls suspended above stone. Modern architectural canopies engineered to the same standards as the home itself.

This is the work most DFW pool builders won’t quote — because most aren’t set up to design, engineer, and fabricate it. We are. Every steel element is structurally engineered, custom-fabricated, and installed by the same team that builds your pool, so the architecture, the water, and the hardscape all read as one composition.

  • Cantilevered and floating roof structures
  • Suspended linear fire walls and steel feature walls
  • Modern architectural canopies and pavilions
  • Steel-and-glass enclosures integrated with the home

What We Build — Outdoor Living DFW Categories

Six disciplines, one continuous backyard.

Outdoor Kitchens

Built to entertain, engineered to last a DFW summer.

From a clean built-in grill island to a full chef’s setup with side burners, refrigeration, and bar seating, our outdoor kitchens are designed around how you actually cook and host. Stone, stucco, or modern architectural finishes; granite, porcelain, or honed black countertops; appliances rated for the Texas climate.

  • Built-in grills, side burners, smokers
  • Refrigeration, ice makers, kegerators
  • Bar seating and dining counters
  • Stone, stucco, and modern stucco-and-steel finishes

Pavilions & Covered Patios

Shade in August. Shelter in November. Architecture that ties to the home.

A pavilion is the single most-used structure in most of our backyards because it works in every season. We build traditional limestone pavilions with vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings as well as modern flat-roof structures with engineered steel framing — always tied architecturally to the main home.

  • Tongue-and-groove or stained beam ceilings
  • Standing seam, flat steel, or composite roofs
  • Integrated electrical, gas, and AV rough-in
  • Outdoor fireplaces, TV walls, and ceiling fans built in

Custom Pergolas

Filtered shade, architectural lines, defined outdoor rooms.

Pergolas are the lighter cousin of a pavilion — open slats or louvered roofs that filter light without closing the sky off. We build traditional cedar and stained timber as well as modern aluminum louvered systems that open and close on a remote.

  • Cedar, stained timber, or aluminum
  • Fixed slat or adjustable louvered roofs
  • Attached to home or freestanding
  • Integrated lighting and motorized screens

Fire Features

The reason you stay outside after sunset.

Custom fire pits, raised fire bowls, modern linear gas features, and engineered floating fire walls. Fire is a focal point — anchoring a seating area, framing a view across the pool, or holding the architectural line of a modern backyard.

  • Stone, stucco, or modern linear fire pits
  • Steel-fabricated floating and cantilevered fire walls
  • Outdoor fireplaces with stone or tile surrounds
  • Fire bowls and water-and-fire combinations

Hardscape, Pavers & Decking

The surface that ties everything together.

Pool decking is what your feet feel and what your eyes follow across the yard, so the material choice matters. We work in travertine, large-format porcelain pavers, flagstone, honed limestone, stamped and broom-finish concrete. Drainage, slope, and expansion are engineered from the first drawing.

  • Travertine, porcelain, flagstone, honed limestone
  • Coping, steps, and retaining walls
  • Drainage and grading engineered in
  • Walkways and driveway extensions

Landscape Lighting

A backyard that’s just as beautiful at 10pm as it is at 10am.

Low-voltage LED systems for path lighting, tree uplighting, architectural wall washing, and underwater pool and water features lighting. We design lighting in layers — ambient, accent, and task — so the yard reads beautifully without ever feeling over-lit.

  • Path, step, and deck lighting
  • Tree uplighting and moonlighting
  • Architectural and feature wash
  • App-controlled color and zone systems

Walkthrough & Warranty

Final walkthrough, system orientation, and the same lifetime transferable structural warranty that backs every pool we build.

Designed With the Pool, Not Around It

The biggest mistake we see in DFW backyards is outdoor living added piecemeal — a pool from one contractor, a pavilion from another, a steel feature wall from a third. The transitions never quite match, the sightlines fight each other, and the budget creeps because no one engineered the whole thing as a single system.

When Platinum Pools designs your outdoor living, the pavilion roofline is drawn in relation to the pool’s vanishing edge. The fire wall lines up with the view from the kitchen. The steel fabrication is engineered alongside the structural shell. It’s one drawing, one budget, one builder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you build outdoor living projects without a pool?

Yes — when we have capacity. Our priority is pool clients and pool-plus-outdoor-living projects, but we do take standalone pavilion, outdoor kitchen, and architectural steel projects in DFW when the scope and schedule fit.

What makes your structural steel work different?

Most pool builders sub out anything beyond standard framing. We design, engineer, and install fabricated structural steel — cantilevered roofs, floating fire walls, modern canopies — as part of our core capability. That means the steel elements are coordinated with the pool, hardscape, and home from day one rather than retrofitted later.

What does an outdoor living project typically cost in DFW?

Ranges vary by scope. A built-in grill island starts around $15,000–$25,000. A full outdoor kitchen with refrigeration and bar seating runs $35,000–$75,000+. Pavilions typically start around $45,000 and scale with size, roof system, and integrated features. Engineered steel structures are quoted individually. We provide fully itemized proposals.

Can you add a pavilion or outdoor kitchen to an existing pool?

Absolutely. Many of our outdoor living projects are added to pools built by other contractors years ago. We evaluate existing decking, drainage, and electrical before designing so the new build integrates cleanly.

How long does construction take?

Most standalone outdoor living projects run 6–14 weeks depending on scope, permitting, and material lead times. Projects with engineered steel typically run longer because of fabrication time. Combined pool-and-outdoor-living builds typically run 4–6 months. We share a real schedule before contracts are signed.

Do you work in HOA-controlled neighborhoods?

Constantly. We’ve worked through HOA architectural review in Westlake, Vaquero, Glenwyck Farms, Mira Vista, the Park Cities, and most of the gated communities across DFW. We handle submittals and revisions as part of our process.
